Impressions

An exploration into ceramics and sculptural work

Each piece began with a relief sculpture that I created by observing my own face. Then, I created slabs of clay that I draped over the forms, allowing the impressions to create a natural, bowl-like form. After this, I painted each of the pieces with a focus on exploring different glazing and design techniques. The works can be displayed with the bowls draped over the sculptures and hiding them, or lying open with the paintings displayed.
